Where did you grow up?
Early childhood I moved around quite a bit! I started in Houston, but then lived in Europe for five years: I was in Holland for two years, back to Houston for about 6 months, then England for three, and finally back to Houston where I would remain!
Why did you come to UT? Why are you majoring in CS?
I came to UT for a multitude of reasons. The ever-expanding resources to take hold of your own education and mold it to your needs, Austin, the community, the faculty, and the fact so much research is done at this institution. You may have noticed that CS was not part of this list; this is because I started as a Biochemistry major. However, I realized I was not in the field for me so I internally transferred into CS my second year. I love solving problems; I love computers; and I love having tools to express my solutions and creativity, leading me to major in the wonderful world of CS. Reflecting upon this it’s honestly a mystery to me why I didn’t pursue CS off the gate as I have loved every second of it.
What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?
Golf! My Dad gave me a club as soon as I was able to walk and I have been playing ever since.
Why are you in this class?
I have heard nothing but good things about this class and I feel that the skills and topics covered are invaluable as a means to improve as a Computer Scientist. I also wanted to force myself to improve my Python and learn Web Development.
